Contains of the Patent Ingredient Magdisalicylate®
Low molecular weight substances of different properties were found in the refining of fucoxanthin. By investigating its structure, it was found to have a unique structure so far unknown, so Dr. Oishi and others named it Magdisalicylate®.
In the study of the physiological activity of magdisalicylate, we found that it can selectively inhibit the cyclooxygenase (COX-2), which are inflammation-related enzymes.
COX-2 is an enzyme associated with inflammation and the proliferation of cancer cells. It is important to inhibit the activity of this enzyme.
COX-1 is an enzyme which is similar in structure to COX-2 . COX-1 is a very important enzyme that protects the gastric mucosa and maintains blood flow and blood pressure.
So far, no substance has been found to maintain the activity of COX-1 and inhibit the activity of COX-2. Magdisalicylate (MSA) is the only substance that can selectively inhibit COX-2, and Dr. Oishi and others have obtained patent for it. (Patent No. 5147218)

Durvillea antartica is a brown algae that grows off the Antarctic coast (off the coast of Chile) and contains the patented ingredient magdisalicylate®.
Durvillea antartica is a large natural kelp, which is endemic to Antarctica and the southernmost regions of Chile in South America, and can reach a height of 10-20 meters.
It grows naturally on the seashore with obvious difference between low tide and high tide, on the quay of sea puddles, and it can be firmly attached to them.

Fucoxanthin is a sulfated polysaccharide contained in the transparent "mucus" on the surface of seaweed.
When tides or sand currents damage the stems or leaves, this “mucus” functions to prevent bacteria from entering the wound. It can also prevents dryness and retain moisture on seaweed.
